Pub crawls involve hordes of frat boys or middle-aged men crawling through pubs like locusts, consuming copious amounts of beer and bellowing come-on lines to frightened women until moving on to the next unfortunate bar. The Lit Crawl is like that except that it consists of hordes of bespectacled, cardigan-wearing readers who instead of hitting on members of the opposite sex will go home and write stories involving strained gender relations and the cruel yoke of shyness (Alas! when passion is both meek and wild!).
This Saturday, Sep. 27, at 6pm, the Lit Crawl starts out at both Happy Ending with a reading by Ben Greenman and at R Bar with a reading curated by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Then the drunken literati will move on to Common Ground at 7:15pm for the L Magazine's Pocket Fiction reading.
Of course, you don't care about any of that because you live in Williamsburg and are lazy. Luckily for you the event moves across the bridge to Pete's Candy Store (709 Lorimer St) for BOMB magazine's reading at 8:30pm, which runs at the same time as Opium Magazine's Literary Death Match at Supreme Trading (213 N 8th St), where the Lit Crawl after-party will also be held right after the reading. WOOOOO literature is number 1! USA! USA! USA!
